Six years ago I moved out of my parents house to join Art in an apartment in Espana with the dream of forming a concept band that plays R&B and Dance music in a different perspective. Of course it was fun, Imagine yourself being free from your parents rules and being able to party whenever you want. On the other hand, it was hard knowing that you have to do things your own like prepare & buy your own food and basically being a self supporting individual. At that time we didnt have enough money and we have to hustle to be able to pay rent and electricity. Looking back from now I still cant think how the hell am I able to live by my own for 2 years in that apartment by just playing 2 gigs that pays 700php per gig!

(top that) And in addition, everytime we play a gig its just 5 tables and out of that 5 tables 3 of them happen to be our friends. Most of the Venues that we want to audition to wants us to sing commercial or as we call it "masa songs" and also wants us to have a female vocalist for them to accept us.
Again we have nothing, no money,no electricity for 5 days, even no band members at some point because we cant have gigs that would sustain their families. All that we had was just a wild dream that someday people would want to hear and see us live and to top it all, we want to be international. I remember everytime Apl of Black Eyed Peas came to visit Manila me and Art would go to Clubs in D' Fort to find where he is hanging out so that we slip in a demo maybe he'd be interested. Eventhough we lack money to buy 100php beers in that area we still tried. To sum it all up, we did all sorts of stuff to make ourselves believe that someday well be recognized.
After 6 years of literally blood sweat and tears! Im really glad that its all starting to pay off. A lot of things already changed, Im already a Father and a husband right now.Urbanation has been recognized as "the Best Urban Band" at Wave 891's Urban Music Awards for 2010 and Finally, we are working w/ Apl d Ap under his Jeepney music Label for the bands album to be released in itunes. Though I still have my dayjob to support my music and my Family. It feels good that the band that me and Art started is on its way to the promised land. We've been through a lot of hard times thats why we are so thankful of what we have right now. I guess what im trying to say is if you have a dream pursue it and be the best at it. Believe in yourself and don't let any trials stop you. You'll get there...
